VES Union

We, the workers of Veterans Evaluations Service (henceforth, VES), are coming together to speak with one forward-facing voice and work toward a common cause. We want stability. We want dignity. We want transparency. A union is how we seek real representation, real leadership, and real power.
About Us
Our Story
We deserve better pay and benefits. Since we were purchased by Maximus, VES’s parent company, in 2021, we have lost various benefits including an annual cost of living adjustment (COLA). Base pay across the company is too low, the merit-based increases have failed to keep up with inflation. We face constant changes to our pay structures and reductions in pay that make our lives unstable. Our healthcare premiums continue to be too expensive for our families. All this signals to us that Maximus does not value us for what we are truly worth.
Maximus’s mismanagement is clearly affecting Veterans. The veterans deserve the best quality and timeliness. Maximus does not give new workers the comprehensive training that is needed, leading to constant turnover. This steers us away from the high standards we operated on for years, and towards their bottom line, profit. Being able to help veterans is the most rewarding part of our work. With a union, we hope to retain the good workers that Maximus drives away and rise above the problems that Maximus’s management has created.
Together, we want to bring Maximus to the table and secure our future in the form of a contract, the same way they secure their business with the VA. We invite Maximus into an open dialogue with us regarding our job roles, benefits, pay, quotas and incentives.
